{Dis}comfort Zones

{Dis}comfort Zones

Let's talk about {dis}comfort zones.

Whenever I am given the opportunity to travel for my job, I do my best to get out and explore at least one new place.  While I am usually traveling alone, this means I am taking myself on a solo trip to see that monument, try that restaurant, or visit that museum.

Historically, I was horrified by the idea of saying "uh, table for one" because "omg, no, everyone is going to think I'm some sad, lonely, loser".

But then I got a little older, a little wiser, read a few books and followed a few inspiring people who have pretty much got me sold 100% that the best things in life are found in your #discomfortzone.

Today, I like to think I live my life in the pursuit of the unknown.  I seek out opportunities that push my boundaries.  Because you know what?  I always end up learning something or meeting someone new that I wouldn't have known before.  And that's pretty rad, in my opinion.

Now, it may not quite be one of the "best things in life", but without this explorative gumption I've worked to cultivate, I never would have visited the Museum of Natural History during my trip to Washington, DC and learned that Binturongs are a thing that exist in Southeast Asia.  Who knew?
